Chris Gray's professional experience is largely focused on complex urban projects with tightly integrated architectural interventions. His interests focus on contemporary landscape design, the development of the modern city and the integration of architecure within sensitive landscapes. In the future, Chris Gray aims to work in a capacity to bridge the gap that currently exists between landscape architecture and architecture, in order to foster greater understanding between the two professions.

Chris Gray was born in Asuncion, Paraguay and subsequently spent several years in South Australia before moving to Scotland, his parental home. He grew up in Alloway opposite the childhood cottage of Scotland's national bard, Robert Burns, before completing his secondary education in the North-East of Scotland. He studied landscape architecture in Edinburgh and Ontario, Canada. He received his professional landscape architecture qualification from Edinburgh College of Art/Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Chris Gray gained his landscape architectural experience at the office of Olin Partnership in Philadelphia where he worked on a broad range of projects across the United States and beyond. In particular, he worked closely with Laurie Olin on the new landscape plan for the Washington Monument. He gained licensure in the State of Delaware in February 2003 and returned to Scotland to study architecture in September of the same year. Following graduation from his MArch, Chris worked for Make Architects in their Edinburgh office until December 2008. Chris is one of the founding members of 7N Architects.
