A fantastic house by Rick Joy in Woodstock, Vermont. I worked on a competition with Rick when I worked at Olin Partnership – we worked out of his studio in Tucson on a concept for the canal system in Phoenix. He worked as a cabinet maker before training as an architect in his early thirties and I think that previous experience really shows in his architecture which is so beautifully detailed and considered. It is great to see his work outside of the desert and see his continued considerate response to landscape.
