Saturday, May 08, 2004 "ideal homes" exhibition open! 
I haven't posted properly for some time due to my involvement in the installation of an exhibition at the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland which just opened. Running from 4-27th May, the exhibition is subtitled "72 propositions for ideal homes" and is the culmination of last term's work in Craigmillar in which our year were asked to envisage a future for this deprived area that didn't involve the use of traditional (and traditionally unsuccessful) tenemental building typologies. Instead, a dense carpet of houses, each with ground floor access, garden space and parking was proposed and an eclectic mix of client roles developed. The results are displayed in the exhibition in the form of a striking patchwork of 1:50 models and accompanying plans and renderings.
